Counselor / Spiritual Director
Phil brings more than 50 years of pastoral ministry experience and a deep passion for caring for pastors, spouses, and ministry leaders. As the founder of Grace Valley, Phil has devoted much of his life to walking alongside those in ministry, offering wisdom, encouragement, and compassionate support for individuals navigating seasons of fatigue, transition, spiritual renewal, and leadership challenges.
Paul Hahn
Counselor / Coach
Paul has 20 years of pastoral counseling experience and a deep passion for helping individuals and couples find healing, clarity, and hope. Paul is the founder of Balance 4 Life Ministries, a nonprofit counseling ministry dedicated to supporting mental, relational, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing.
Cheri Cochran
Spiritual Director / Coach
Cheri has more than 30 years of ministry experience and a deep passion for helping pastors, leaders, and individuals find clarity, encouragement, and renewed hope. As a speaker coach, former executive pastor, and spiritual director, Cheri offers compassionate support shaped by both professional experience and a personal journey of faith, restoration, and wholehearted connection with God and others.
Brian Johnson
Spiritual Director / Coach
Brian has years of ministry leadership experience and a deep passion for helping individuals cultivate a deeper life with God through prayer, discernment, and intentional spiritual formation. As co-founder and director of the Kansas City Underground, a decentralized mission movement and microchurch network, Brian has spent years equipping leaders and everyday people to live with greater purpose, spiritual attentiveness, and connection to the way of Jesus.
Brent Harrison
Counselor / Spiritual Director
Brent brings years of pastoral ministry experience and a deep passion for helping individuals experience healing, renewal, and a deeper connection with God. As the founder and executive director of Restore Ministries International, Brent is a licensed and ordained pastor, certified life coach, and trained spiritual director who has spent years guiding people through seasons of discernment, restoration, and spiritual growth.
Emily Chambers
Spiritual Director / Coach
Emily brings more than 20 years of ministry experience and a deep passion for helping women and ministry leaders find healing, clarity, and renewed hope. With a Master’s degree in Counseling and years of experience leading women’s ministries and caring for individuals within the local church, Emily offers compassionate, faith-centered support for those navigating seasons of transition, burnout, grief, spiritual questions, or personal growth.
Our Beginning
Cheryl Merrefield was first given the vision of Grace Valley Ministries. She responded by praying that God would bring partners to help fulfill that vision. Cheryl and her husband, Dan, then donated over 11 acres of their land to the ministry. Their example of giving continues to be the philosophy of Grace Valley Ministries. God answered prayer by calling Phil and Sue Engelman to minister directly to pastors and their families. God has also provided wonderful board members, staff, and various individuals who have caught the vision and desire to be a part of what the Lord is doing.
