  • Romans 13:9-10 February 21, 2018
“The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.”

Pastoral Support Groups

Pastor Phil Engelman is regularly engaged in facilitating small groups for pastors and ministry leaders.  These groups provide a safe place for ministry leaders to do life and ministry together.   Consisting of pastors from a variety of Christian denominations who all love Jesus, love the Word of God and believe the gospel, these pastors recognize that what they share in common far exceeds what separates them.   As they meet they not only keep one another refreshed and encouraged in their work, but they help fulfill the prayer of Jesus in John 17:23 that we might “be one” and thus the world would be impacted.

The groups meet twice each month to do three things:

1. Check in – an opportunity to share our blessings and struggles in a safe place

2. Share what is fresh from God – beyond being simply a place to unload our burdens, we seek to share our journey of growth in Christ, what He is teaching us, and in the process encourage one another.

3. Prayer – we pray for one another personally and for the community to which we’ve been called.

So far, ten different groups for pastors and ministry leaders have been formed in the following areas of north Georgia with the intent to keep the movement growing: Canton, Woodstock, Holly Springs, Ball Ground, Waleska, Jasper, and Marietta.

This phase of Grace Valley Ministries is aided by our partnership with Barnabas Ministries Inc.  Phil is a regional director and enjoys the encouragement of being part of a growing movement of John 17:23 pastoral support groups.

One Response to Pastoral Support Groups

  • Pablo Rivera says:

I am so grateful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for His call in my to pastor. As a pastor, and I’m sure all pastor can relate with this, we all need from one another a time to share, any time to pray together, and a time to inspire one another. I am so grateful so the invention that I recently received from pastor Phil to attend on of the group, it was a blessing to my life, and a prayer answered. I look forward to attend the next meeting. May the Lord continue to bless this ministry!
