Phil serves as the ministry director for Grace Valley Ministries. (See fuller bio under “Services and Facilities” – “Counseling.”) Phil engages in day to day counseling, leading and establishing small groups for pastors (John 17:23 pastor support groups in affiliation with Barnabas Ministries, Inc., and hosting the various ministries of Grace Valley. Phil’s wife, Sue, is a health coach. Since the demands of ministry sometimes leads to serious health challenges, Sue is available for those interested in her coaching services. Phil & Sue are also providing a ministry space called the Oasis for ministry individuals or couples in crisis or simply in need of rest through a private entry apartment in their home. This space is in use while we wait for the first cottage to be built.
Sue Engelman (Ministry Staff)
Through her life experiences, Sue has become a dynamic encourager of many. She is a writer and health coach, highly trained in nutrition and fitness with tremendous insights to offer people in pain both spiritually and physically.
Cheryl, along with her husband, Dan, are donating their property to Grace Valley Ministries. The original vision for Grace Valley was born in Cheryl’s heart, and God used her to see the beginnings of this ministry realized. She continues to serve in a day to day capacity. Cheryl has been married to Dan for 38 years. They have four children and seven grandchildren. Cheryl demonstrated a compassion for ministry couples many years ago in serving the Engelmans during a time of great loss. Since that time, she has continued to be an encourager to all who serve Christ. She brings a strong passion for hospitality, attention to detail, and great creativity in everything she does for Grace Valley.
Rudy brings a rich background of wisdom to the board. Having served in vocational ministry for 30 years, he has experience as a senior pastor and associate pastor. In addition, Rudy has served in supportive roles that include counseling, directing small groups, assimilation, and education. He has six children and nine grandchildren. He is currently a self employed small business owner with tremendous wisdom and practical knowledge. Rudy has experienced the hardships of ministry and life in general and brings a passion to minister to the servants of the Lord, along with rich spiritual insight.
Julie brings compassion and experience to our team. She has been a Teaching Director for Community Bible Study for several years, and an Area Director of the same ministry for nearly as long. She has co-authored six women’s devotional books and a book of her own entitled “Be Still and Know…” She speaks for women’s retreats and special events. She’s been married to her husband, Scott, for 38 years. They have two children and three grandchildren. She currently works as a surgical nurse. Julie has a passion for encouraging others to apply biblical truth and uses that gift in ministering to the servants of the Lord. She and Scott have made The Oasis on the River available as our second ministry space to be used for those in need of rest.

Mike brings wisdom and experience to our board. He has served in vocational ministry for 33 years and has experience as a senior pastor, family ministries, adult and youth ministry, and was a missionary in the South Pacific. Mike served on the staff at North Point Community Church for 10 years, and in 2014 he founded CoreRelations, where he coaches individuals, couples, and ministry teams. He and Kathy have been married for 42 years, have three married children and seven grandchildren. Mike and Kathy have a passion for mentoring couples and promoting healthy marriages.
Cliff Hamilton (Ministry Staff)
Cliff and his wife Melissa feel blessed at the timing and opportunity of God’s calling to Grace Valley Ministries. Cliff has a heart for serving those in ministry, and a passion for encouraging, counseling, and walking alongside these families, helping them deal with the stresses they encounter as they serve.
As Associate Ministry Director for Grace Valley, Cliff’s ministry focuses on connecting with families in the ministry, creating bonds of encouragement and healing in an open and faithful Christian setting, and creating opportunities for fun and enjoyment in God’s creation through small groups and planned outings.
Tony has been in ministry for a total of 46 years and has been married to his wife, Lynne, for the same amount of time. Most of his ministry has been as a lead pastor. 20 of those years he served in Brandon FL and 24 in Fayetteville, GA. Part of that journey included founding and directing a parachurch youth ministry in Brandon called the Brandon Youth Ranch. He then went on to found and pastor two churches, one in FL and the other here in GA. He served as Chairman of the Board for Florida Bible College for 10 years when it was located in Kissimmee, FL. Currently, Tony is the lead pastor at Grace Community Church in Sharpsburg GA. He and Lynne have three adult children, and five grandchildren. He brings with him a rich background of understanding into the lives of those who serve in ministry and has a special passion for what we are doing through Grace Valley Ministries.
Ken and Gloria Stumbo (Ministry Staff)
Ken and Gloria Stumbo came to us in 2014 to help us make progress on the development of our retreat center. They bring with them over 30 years of experience in building and managing a very effective retreat center. Fairhaven Ministries in Elizabethton, TN was their home for many years. They have moved to north Georgia by faith, trusting God to continue to provide for them through their own faithful supporters. What a gift they have been to our staff and to the vision of Grace Valley Ministries! Their coming hastened our progress manifold, and we look forward to all God will enable us to accomplish with the expertise and experience they bring.
