Thanks for your prayers. We installed the septic systems for all three cottages. See the pics below:
However, since our last update we’ve run into additional snags with the county that are holding up progress. We know God is sovereign and “the king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord.” (Proverbs 21:1) Meanwhile, we have retained the services of a local architect our builder describes as a “permitting guru.” He is working on guiding us through the maze of the various regulations that are currently holding us up. Pray for his success in this effort. As for the issue with the road’s inability to accommodate a 40 foot fire truck, we are still working to resolve this issue.
Here’s the good news. As it turns out, and completely unrelated to our project, the county has plans to extend the paved portion of Colmer Road all the way down to the first bridge! This will solve the biggest portion of our firetruck road issue and at the county’s expense. It will greatly reduce the expense of this additional roadwork for us! This is, no doubt, the Lord’s provision and we are very grateful!
Here’s where you prayers come in. This work is slated to begin several months from now and we don’t know exactly when. Pray this scheduled roadwork begins as soon as possible and pray too that, with this development, the Fire Marshall will honor the prior agreement to allow us to pour the slabs for the cottages in the meantime.
I was reading this morning from Ezra 1 and was blessed to see that when the time was right, God “stirred the heart of Cyrus,” King of Persia, to build the Temple in Jerusalem. God’s timing is always perfect and He has the power to stir just the right people to help us bring the vision for Grace Valley to pass. We are seeking Him to bring to us investors who understand how desperate is the need for pastors and ministry leaders to come apart for rest and renewal, before they “come apart.”
This past week we submitted two additional grant applications in the hope of getting a positive response. Pray these will find receptive hearts. Last month, I asked you to pray for an additional $500 a month regular support for the operational costs of our ministry. This is separate from our capital campaign. Praise God that $250 of that has been supplied! Please pray for God to move on the hearts of more individuals and churches to partner with us to meet the rest of this need.
Here’s a pic of our latest staff meeting. Ken & Gloria Stumbo, Cheryl Merrefield, Sue and me. Ken has been handling property and building issues. Gloria and Cheryl serve as our hospitality team and handle other loose ends. Not pictured is Abby Wooten, who is my administrative assistant, and Cheri Denmon who handles our books.
Additional Prayer Requests
For the health of our John 17:23 pastors support groups. Pastor Larry Baker has volunteered to help me oversee this work and serve as a group leader coach. I deeply appreciate his encouragement and help.
For local pastors not yet plugged into a group. I just got an email from a pastor this morning who is struggling and seeking connection and accountability. I referred him to the group leader for our Smyrna group. Pray he gets well connected and encouraged.
For networking opportunities where we can share the vision of Grace Valley and gain additional ministry partners.
For God’s leading as we seek to add one or two additional board members to our Board of Directors.
For wisdom in every decision made during the building process. For our builder, Steve McKenzie, as he directs the project.
For ongoing health and strength for Sue, me, and the rest of the staff.
I hope you realize how much you matter to us. Your prayers on our behalf, your financial support, your love and friendship mean the world to us. Please let us know how we can pray for you as well.
